1. How do I get in touch with animal control services in Davidson?

Call the non-emergency Police Department number: 704-892-5131.  Davidson Police will respond and determine whether they can be of assistance. If they cannot, they will call for a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Control Officer from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control (CMAC&C). CMAC&C is available seven days a week, with business hours and emergency hours.

3. What services does Davidson Police Department animal control provide?

The Davidson Police Department (DPD) will respond to animal control requests within town limits and determine if they can be of assistance. If they cannot, a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Control Officer will be called. While the DPD is the emergency first responder in the extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ), the ETJ is the jurisdiction of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control.

8. There is a feral cat on my property. Can animal control assist?

CMPD Animal Control will no longer respond to calls for service in reference to feral cats or cats which are caught in a cat trap. CMPD Animal Control will only respond if a cat is injured or involved in a scratch or bite. Citizens will need to call a third party vendor (i.e. Critter Control) for feral cat related issue, or if trapped, attempt to take the cat to a local vet.

9. What are the rules regarding animals in Davidson parks (including Fisher Farm)?

Davidson's leash law applies to all Davidson Park facilities EXCEPT the "off-leash park" called The Preserve, located at 330 O'Henry Street in the St. Alban's Neighborhood. The Preserve is open only to Davidson residents. All dogs must have a license and proper vaccination records including a rabies vaccination. Dog licenses may be purchased at Davidson Town Hall for $10 unless the owner is over 60 years (no charge). Search for "leash" in the Municipal Code
