Citizens Invited to Rural Area Plan “Q&A Forum”:
Saturday, February 4 at Hopewell Baptist Church
Citizens are invited to attend a “Questions and Answers Forum” to learn more about the Rural Area Plan and the proposed rezonings and text changes to the Davidson Planning Ordinance in Hopewell Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall on Saturday, February 4 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Please join us.
The Davidson Board of Commissioners approved the Rural Area Plan in September 2016 after a 12-month public process. The next step is to present the text amendments and the zoning changes to the Davidson Board of Commissioners for approval. Their approval will ensure that the plan is implemented and is legally enforceable. A vote is tentatively planned for their March 14 meeting.
The Rural Area Plan promotes Davidson’s interrelated values of open space preservation, connectivity, and walkable neighborhoods. Overall, even in the face of development pressure both within and adjacent to the town, the plan targets 57% of the current rural area to be set aside as publicly-accessible, interconnected open space – a remarkable feat for any community.
This meeting will have the following format:
Gather around maps for specific Q&A
“The Davidson Board of Commissioners heard from numerous citizens with questions about the Rural Area Plan at their public hearing on January 10,” said Planning Director Jason Burdette. “In an effort to continue the dialogue with our citizens, we’ve set up this meeting in the rural area, created a “Frequently Asked Questions” document, and filmed a series of informational videos.”
