Watercraft Rack Leasing Program Registration Now Open to All Town of Davidson Residents

The Davidson Parks and Recreation 2017 Watercraft Rack Leasing Program is now open for registration. The town has a total of 126 available watercraft rack spaces for canoes, kayaks, paddleboards at two different locations:

  • Lake Davidson Nature Preserve (located behind Davidson Day School) and
  • Parham Park (located on Lake Cornelius).

Rack spaces are limited to one per household, and there is a maximum of two watercrafts per rack space.

Please register on or by Monday, November 14. You may register online at www.townofdavidson.org/dpr, or by calling 704-892-3349 or visiting the Davidson Parks and Recreation Office at 865 South Street (next to Davidson Elementary School).Current leaseholders are not automatically guaranteed a space and must register for the 2017 rack space lottery.

Proof of a physical Town of Davidson address is required. Registration for the program is free, but if selected, lottery winners must pay $100 per rack space for the 2017 calendar year (January 1 to December 31). The lottery will be drawn on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Selected residents will be notified by November 18, 2016, with full payment due by January, 20, 2017. If payment is not received by January 20, 2017, the space will go to the next person on the list. All watercrafts currently on racks must be removed by December 31, 2016.

“We are so pleased that our citizens enjoy using our lakes,” said Recreation Program Manager James Adams. “The Davidson Parks and Recreation Department has a goal of enhancing the physical, mental, and emotional health of our citizens, and being out on the water in a kayak or canoe satisfies all three of those aspects of health.”
