Town of Davidson Public Works Crews to Prune Landscaping in Rights-of-Way

Members of the Town of Davidson’s Public Works Department trim tree branches and other natural growth in and over the rights-of-way (sidewalks and streets) in order to allow pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers to pass safely throughout the year.
“Growth in the rights-of-way often affects visibility of street signs and other oncoming vehicles or pedestrians,” said Public Works Operations Supervisor Jesse Bouk. “Large trucks also have trouble maneuvering through overgrowth in the rights-of-way.”

Property owners have the right to maintain their own landscaping; we request an 8-foot-high clearance of trees over sidewalks and a clearance of 14 feet over streets. Citizens who trim their own landscaping can pile up debris for Republic Waste Services to collect. All tree trimmings, dead plants, weeds, leaves, and dead tree debris not exceeding six feet (6’) in length, four inches (4”) in diameter and yard debris in plastic bags no heavier than 50 pounds per bag are acceptable.
If you have any questions, please contact Public Works Operations Supervisor Jesse Bouk at jbouk@townofdavidson.org or 704-940-9638.
