Davidson Fire Department Conducts Seasonal Hydrant Testing
Over the next few months, the Davidson Fire Department will conduct testing on all fire hydrants in town for water flow and functionality. We have nearly 400 hydrants in Davidson, and approximately 12 hydrants will be tested daily, Monday through Friday.
Members of the department will open all hydrants for one minute, flush out all mud balls that might have accumulated, and flow and gauge water pressure by taking readings.
Citizens will see water flowing from hydrants, and could potentially see some sediment in their water from faucets and in toilets. The Davidson Fire Department recommends allowing water to flow until it runs clear. If there are ongoing issues, citizens should call 704-336-7600.
