ReadDavidson, an annual town-wide reading initiative that started in 2007, is a partnership between the Town of Davidson, the Davidson Public Library, Main Street Books, and local avid readers. The ReadDavidson committee encourages people to read a selected book and attend fun book-related events that make the books come to life.
For the second year in a row, ReadDavidson is excited to announce that it has selected four books. In an effort to involve the entire Davidson community, books for a wide range of age groups have been chosen as follows:
Adult (Fiction): Infinite Country by Patricia EngelYoung Adult/Adult (Fiction): What Makes Us by Rafi MittlefehldtMiddle Grades (Non-Fiction/Graphic Novel): When Stars Are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson and Omar MohamedChildren’s Picture Book: Story Boat by Kyo Maclear, illustrated by Rashin Kheiriyeh
“Coming together as a community to discuss critical topics through the lens of literature has such value,” says Main Street Books Owner Ada Fitzgerald. “By selecting books for readers of all ages and offering engaging programming to facilitate group conversation around these works, we hope ReadDavidson will have another successful year when we can learn and grow together as a town.”
2022 events will be scheduled for April in conjunction with the town’s annual “April is for Arts” initiative. The committee is hoping to host in-person events this year; however, that will be dependent on current COVID-19 best practices.
