Want to get involved and get moving? Then sign up for 30 Days of Action

Posted on April 4, 2012 at 4:52 PM by Megan Davis

Community involvement is a way of life in Davidson. We have always been the kind of town where people help not just their friends, but their neighbors, too. In fact, we built an entire day around the concept: In 1971, Davidson Mayor Tom Sadler issued a proclamation designating May 8 through 15 of that year “Clean Up” week and May 15 as a culminating event: Town Day, the first on record.

Ever since then, Town Day has been a tradition for Davidson citizens. Although the event has seen many transformations over the years, it has continued to be a celebration of Davidson’s commitment to giving back and being active in the community.

As part of the town’s initiative to be a healthy community, we would like you to join with us in a challenge that will take place over 30 days, ending on Town Day. The challenge will begin April 5 and end on Town Day.

If you choose to sign up for the challenge, each day you will receive an email with an idea or suggestion encouraging you to take action within the community. Every action will relate to one or more topics including health, economy, education, or environment.

If you’re interested in getting involved in this wonderful community, sign up to join the 30 Days of Action challenge by sending an email to me, Leslie Willis, Davidson’s Healthy Living and Wellness Supervisor, at If you decide to take the challenge, your email address will not be shared with anyone else, and you will only receive the 30 Days of Action emails. Once the challenge is complete, your email address will no longer be used and you will not receive any further emails from the town.

We hope you’ll join us – this challenge is going to help us kick off our annual tradition of community involvement, and we’re going to have a lot of fun in the process. And I hope you’ll also stay tuned to this blog, which is something new we’re premiering this year to reach out in new ways to our citizens. You’ll be hearing a lot more from me in the future!
