A summary of the October 27 work session:
Pat Millen, Executive Director of E2D (Eliminate the Digital Divide), spoke to the mayor and board of commissioners about Next Century Cities, an organization that supports municipalities that recognize the importance of leveraging internet accessibility to attract new businesses and create jobs, improve education, and connect residents, and encouraged the town to join. The mayor and board of commissioners decided to join Next Century Cities. More information is available at www.nextcenturycities.org.
The mayor and board of commissioners approved the Town Manager Employment Agreement for Jamie Justice. He begins work on Monday, November 16, 2015 and a transition plan is in place to ensure a seamless transfer of duties and knowledge.
Susan Manning, a human resources consultant, presented a salary and staffing study to the mayor and board of commissioners. They asked me to bring back an implementation plan.
Economic Development Manager Kim Fleming discussed next steps for the downtown Davidson catalyst feasibility study with the mayor and commissioners. We will create a timeline for more citizen engagement and feedback. Round table sessions will be scheduled for February so citizens can learn more about the issues and needs, and provide feedback.
