Roosevelt Wilson Public Information Session - This Saturday, 9/12

All citizens are invited to a Public Information Session on Saturday, September 12 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Roosevelt Wilson Park to learn about all of the improvements we’ve made to date, hear about future plans, and give input on a new replacement play feature for the park. Please join us!

Tai Chi with Joe Higgins

The ancient practice of Tai Chi offers a complete health and fitness exercise and a moving meditation. Slow, gentle movements stretch and lengthen muscles and tendons while easing any stress or tensions in the body. Suitable for beginners as well as those wanting to learn or renew their practice in Tai Chi, Yang style.

Laying the Groundwork for Retirement

This is a multi-module program designed to prepare you for retirement. If you are within 5 years of retiring, this program will be very valuable to you. It can also be very beneficial if you are already retired. There are a total of 4 sessions and each session will cover a specific area of importance that is critical for a successful retirement. Sign up for individual sessions or for all four sessions.

- Enjoy a dependable retirement income
- Effective long term health care planning
- Navigating your will and other legal documents

Art and Hobby Classes Start Soon

Chair Caning - Learn the old-world craft of weaving bamboo strips into a beautiful and strong work of art. Create comfortable seating and backing for an opened framed chair or stool. You will need to bring a chair or stool with you to all classes.  Begins September 16.

Sewing - Learn basic skills and how to use your machine, read and cut out a pattern, and complete a sewing project. And most of all have some fun! This class is for youth and adults.  Begins September 17.

Jewelry Making - Design and create your own jewelry! Projects include necklaces, bracelets, earrings, knotted pieces, multi-strands, pendants, and chain link jewelry. You will complete this series with the skills to make your own pieces at home. There is an after-school program for youth and an evening class for adults.  Both classes begin September 23.

Introduction to Essential Oils

In this class, attendees will learn what essential oils are, how they can be used to promote health and wellness in their home and work place, and how to apply them effectively. Everyone will go away smelling good, feeling great, and equipped with a knowledge of how to take care of their health naturally!
