Basic Sewing

In this beginner-friendly course, participants will learn the basics of sewing and operating a sewing machine. Participants will be surveyed beforehand via email or phone to determine their individual project goals. This course is taught by long time seamstress Katie Chichester with more than 30 years of experience in fabrics and sewing. Call 704-892-3349 if you need a loaner sewing machine. A supply list will be emailed to all participants approximately one week prior to the beginning of class. Two sessions available, one in February and one in April/May. Participants as young as 9 years old welcome.

Beginner Spanish

This is recommended for those who have successfully completed Beginner Spanish Level 1, or who have studied Spanish previously and have a good understanding of the use of articles, noun and adjective agreement, and know how to read with about 80% accuracy. After completing this level, you will be able to describe people, ask for directions to different places in the city, start to make your own simple questions and sentences, tell others about your feelings, and start to become more comfortable using the language.

Diabetes Undone

Diabetes Undone is a 9-step program that provides a solution to identify the root causes of Type-2 Diabetes and reverse the disease through lifestyle principles. This 8-week guided course addresses the causes of the disease by teaching simple strategies like proper nutrition, exercise, stress management, comprehensive testing, and more. You don't have to manage Diabetes or Pre-Diabetes, we will guide you through a hope-filled journey to reverse your disease and reclaim your health. We will also discuss the relationship with Alzheimer's Disease and Diabetes. Alzheimer's is called "Type 3 Diabetes" by some, as it is Diabetes of the brain, when insulin resistence robs us of our memories -- there is hope of prevention and reversal. Includes a participant kit (workbook, cookbook, DVD and more).

PJs and Paintbrushes - April 13

Parents, could you use a night out? Make plans to drop off your young artist, dressed in their cozy pajamas, for an evening of painting fun. While you are off enjoying a quiet dinner, your student will be set up with everything needed to create a winter wonderland landscape. With oodles of acrylic paints, paintbrushes, canvas, art smocks, and easels, participants will walk away with a whimsical masterpiece. Grade 1-5.

CMS Early Release Bike Clinic - April 18

Ready, set, ride! To make bicycling safer and more fun, local experts will be on-hand to educate young riders. Children can bring a bike and helmet to participate in training stations where they learn about and practice safe bicycling skills. This program is offered in partnership with the NC Active Routes to School program, Mecklenburg County Safe Routes to School, and Davidson Police Department. Grade K – 5.

CMS Early Release Youth Wood Signs at AR Workshop - April 18

CMS half day! Come to AR Workshop Davidson to make a crafty wood sign. Select from our many design options. In the workshop you will decorate your sign with our non-toxic paint and stain. Participants will begin with raw materials and will leave with finished projects painted with colors of their choosing. Ages 7 - 12.
