Davidson Police Department Launches DWI Enforcement Initiative for December and January
The Davidson Police Department will launch a driving while intoxicated (DWI) enforcement initiative for the months of December and January to encourage the safety of our citizens on our roadways. We encourage the use of designated sober drivers, ride shares such as Uber or Lyft, or taxi services so that drivers do not break the law by driving while intoxicated or cause an accident.
“Historically, DWI incidents and fatalities increase during the holidays and the football bowl season,” said Davidson Police Chief Penny Dunn. “Public awareness of the enforcement initiative is meant to encourage the use of other options rather than driving while under the influence. Those who don’t, may get a ride share from Davidson Police to Mecklenburg County jail.”
