Watercraft Rentals

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the summer on Lake Davidson by watercraft. Starting Sunday, June 4, Davidson Parks and Recreation will launch a watercraft rental program that will take place every Sunday throughout the summer months from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. This program will include a variety of fleet, including single kayaks, a tandem kayak, paddleboards, and a canoe.
 
Watercraft rental reservations can be made in advance through our online registration system (preferred method) at www.townofdavidson.org/dpr or on-site during rental hours (reservations will be honored first). The cost per watercraft is $15 (resident) and $20 (non-resident). The rental fee includes your choice of watercraft, life vest, and paddle/oar.

Mitt Fitt Boxing Camp

with Glorie Boxing

The class will teach the fundamentals of the sport in a fun and simple way. You will be wrapped-up and gloved for the majority of the hour. Coaches will work you through a heart-pumping warm-up and transition into footwork, mitt work, and shadow boxing drills, developing students’ reflexes and self-defense techniques. The class offers a great physical workout that is intellectually stimulating, stress-relieving and spiritually empowering.

Davidson Community Players Camp

Join DCP for themed drama camps throughout the summer. Each camp will include a little information about everything that goes into a production and ending the week with a performance for family and friends to attend.

Preschool Science for Little Hands

with Animal Naturalist Jackie Phelps

Calling all little Einsteins! Together through circle time, centers, and crafts we will discover the world of science! We will create pint-size experiments, such as eruptions and slime for your little scientist to experience. We will have sensory centers to explore, playground time, and snacks every day.

Rooted in Ecology: STEAM Summer Camp

This STEAM based camp will plunge you into an investigation of plants and animals using local natural resources, technology, creativity and fun! Prepare your own microscope; discover the dizzying array of life under a microscope in scoop of pond water; and use natural resources to make paper and paint!

Dinosaur Exploration and Fossil Science

with Science Educator Debbie Davidson

Students will dig up facts about these mysterious creatures of the past by examining fossil evidence: bones, skin-prints - even dinosaur tracks. Explore models and real specimens. Go on a fossil hunting expedition to find signs of ancient life that roamed this Earth.

Olympic Sport of Fencing Camp

with Colleen Gallant of Charlotte Fencing Academy

Come learn the fast paced and exciting sport of Olympic Fencing. Students learn footwork, basic blade work and some of the tactics involved in fencing. Students get to try out their newly learned skills by bouting against each other. All equipment provided by the Charlotte Fencing Academy. This class is designed for beginning and returning students alike.

Cooking for Tweens and Teens

with Chef Vera Samuels

This cooking camp will give students the opportunity to explore the delicious tastes of fresh foods from all corners of the globe. Fundamentals such as basic knife skills, sautéing and roasting and the importance of kitchen safety will be covered throughout camp. Each student will gain confidence in the kitchen as we practice these techniques and will walk away with the ability to recreate these recipes in their own home.

Outdoor Photography

Join us for a week of taking pictures of all kinds of subjects from bugs to people to fashion and flowers and more. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes, closed toed shoes, sunscreen, and bug spray.

Bone Walker Plus for Healthy Bones and Body- Improve your bones, balance, posture, memory and mobility with this fun musical overall, wellness program, a blend of ballet, yoga and rehab modifications, with AFAA certified teacher, Vicki Buckley.
