Town of Davidson Breaks Ground on Fire Station #2:
New Station to be Completed Late Summer 2017

On October 21, the Town of Davidson held a groundbreaking ceremony for Fire Station #2, located at 19436 Davidson-Concord Road.  This station will service the eastern portions of the Davidson/North Star Fire District, drastically improving response times to this area.  Fire Station #2 will house an engine company staffed with four firefighters (as well as certified Emergency Medical Technicians).

Construction is slated to begin on November 1, with a target completion date of late summer 2017.  Until then, the town is contracting with the Odell Volunteer Fire Department in Cabarrus County to provide service to these areas.

Mayor Woods

“There has been a need for a second fire station in Davidson for many years,” said Davidson Mayor John Woods. “The Davidson Board of Commissioners are making an important investment in our future.”

Bo Fitzgerald

“This new fire station will help us serve our growing community – the fire fighters in this station will be the first responders for medical and fire emergencies in the eastern part of our jurisdiction,” said Davidson Fire Chief Bo Fitzgerald.

Mayor, Commissioners, Town Manager

The projected cost for this new fire station is $2.126 million. The Davidson Board of Commissioners approved the financing arrangement at their October 11 meeting to finance the bulk of that over 15 years.

“The Town of Davidson is still growing, still evolving – we’re building out town facilities to serve our citizens and this station is an important step in providing medical and fire services in this area,” said Town Manager Jamie Justice. “This is a significant occasion for the Town of Davidson.  We have not built a municipal building in Davidson since the construction of town hall over 25 years ago.”
