ReadDavidson Kicks Off its 2016 Season:
Peter Golden’s Wherever There is Light is This Year’s Pick

ReadDavidson announces Wherever There is Light by Peter Golden as its 2016 selection. Wherever There is Light is a sweeping, panoramic, historical novel that takes place in twentieth-century America, covering three generations in the intertwined lives of two families—the Roses, who are Jewish, and the Wakefields, who are African American. Julian Rose (Jewish immigrant) and his love interest, Kendall Ann Wakefield (the granddaughter of a slave), are the main protagonists of the story.

ReadDavidson, an annual town-wide reading initiative that started in 2007, is a partnership between the Town of Davidson, the Davidson Public Library, Main Street Books, and several local avid readers. The ReadDavidson committee encourages people to read a selected book and attend fun and educational book-related events that make the book come to life.  This year’s events are scheduled for October and November. This program season kicks off with a visit by the author on Thursday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, presented in partnership with The Book Clubs of Davidson Tea. All members of the community are invited to attend these free-of-charge events.
