Greenway/Trail Connection Public Information Session
September 28, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Citizens are invited to a public information session to learn more about greenways and trail connections in Davidson and the region on Wednesday, September 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Davidson Town Hall board room located at 216 S. Main Street. The purpose of this session is to educate our citizens about our greenways and gather feedback to inform our greenway master plan process. For more information, call us at 704-892-3349.

Join us as we explore fun ways to reduce stress, connect with others, and access our deeper wisdom. Julie Alexander, founder of Core Health Partners, will lead the sessions. Participate in one or more sessions. Drums are provided!

Join us on the first and third Wednesdays of October and November as we learn to be healthier from the inside out! Strengthen your capacity to make wise investments in your well-being. Explore tools and strategies to create your personalized wellness plan. Participate in one or more sessions.

Adopt-a-Grandparent Prgoram

We are seeking volunteers to participate in the Adopt-A-Grandparent program. If you are already involved with the Adopt-A-Grandparent program, please simply accept this as a reminder email. 
If you haven’t gotten involved yet… this FREE community program seeks to pair Davidson College students with mature adults within the Lake Norman community. It’s a fun and easy way to be a mentor and friend to someone!
We have several students in need of mentors. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please call James Adams at 704-940-9642 to be paired up with a student.

Fall Into Greater Fitness with Indoor Rowing

Elect to get fit this fall on the erg: This class will focus on increasing your fitness level using an indoor rowing machine (erg). Proper technique for indoor rowing, which uses all major muscle groups without putting strain on your joints, will be taught. Workouts, which are appropriate for all fitness levels, will include erg pieces, body weight exercises, and flexibility exercises. Fitness milestones will be taken at the beginning and the end of the six-week session. With commitment to the six-week session, you will see great changes and be invited to participate in an on-water rowing experience. This class meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

Chair Caning

Learn the old-world craft of weaving bamboo strips into a beautiful and strong work of art from artist Patricia Wasylyna. Create comfortable seating and backing for an open-framed chair or stool. You will need to bring a chair or stool with you to all classes. Call 704-892-3349 if you need a chair or stool.

Strength Training for Runners

This introductory class for runners and walkers (or for anyone who wants to participate) will be led by physical therapist Joy Politis to provide instruction on how to incorporate strength training into a regular running routine. If you are a new runner or an experienced one who wants to be stronger, this class can help you.

Fisher Farm Campout

Join the Davidson Parks and Recreation Department and the Davidson Lands Conservancy for an evening nature hikes and a campfire with s’mores. This event culminates with a rare opportunity to camp out at 200-acre Fisher Farm Park. Attendees must bring their own food and camping equipment. We will provide the s’mores and Mother Nature will provide the beauty.
