Citizens Invited to Hear Final Rural Area Plan Recommendations: Monday, May 23
Citizens are invited to hear a presentation of the draft Rural Area Plan on Monday, May 23 at 6:00 p.m. at Davidson Town Hall at the planning board meeting. The plan builds upon the Rural Area Plan design charrette held during the week of November 16, and feedback to the charrette closing presentation on December 9. Project Manager Craig Lewis of Stantec, the company working with the Town of Davidson’s planning staff to complete the plan, will present the final recommendations for the future conservation and development of the Rural Area based on what they learned over the past several months. We encourage citizens to attend and provide more feedback.
This final plan is posted on our website at www.townofdavidson.org/RuralAreaPlan. Two hard copies of the plan are also available for viewing at the front desk of Town Hall during normal business hours. Citizens are encouraged to review the plan and provide comment from May 16 through June 10. To share your comments, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Davidson Mayor and Commissioners will discuss the Rural Area Plan at their June 7 meeting at 4:00 p.m. at Davidson Town Hall, and citizens will have the opportunity to share comments during the public comment period.
In October 2015, at the direction of the Board of Commissioners, the town began a Rural Area Plan for its extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ). The study area comprises approximately 3,848 acres of mainly rural landscape interspersed with large-lot subdivisions and a sparse transportation network (please see map). Several large contiguous tracts of farmland remain undeveloped, many connecting to significant natural features such as bluffs, riparian buffers, and waterways. The area also contains several public parks that provide a foundation from which to expand conservation efforts.
You may view additional information on the project background, anticipated timeline, as well as previous presentations, on the Rural Area Plan website at www.townofdavidson.org/RuralAreaPlan.
If you are unable to attend the sessions on May 23 and June 7, you may watch them live at: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/davidson-town-board-meetings.
