Town of Davidson Announces New Town Attorney Cindy C. Reid
Thanks Outgoing Attorney Rick Kline for his 40 Years of Service
The Davidson Mayor and Board of Commissioners are pleased to announce Cindy C. Reid as the new Davidson Town Attorney to replace Rick Kline. She will begin work in this role on July 1, 2016.
Outgoing Town Attorney Rick Kline has served the Town of Davidson for over 40 years and was critical in the creation of our general plan, land plan, and Davidson Planning Ordinance.
“Rick’s knowledge and experience related to statutory requirements and his assistance with language and interpretation of the Davidson Planning Ordinance have been extremely instrumental to us for over 40 years,” said Mayor John Woods. “His expertise in planning and land use law are unparalleled -- he will be missed.”
Cindy received a Bachelor of Arts in history and English from Queens University in Charlotte and a Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem. She is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. After law school, Cindy spent several years in private practice before joining the Charlotte City Attorney’s office where she represented the engineering and finance departments.
In 2007, she began working for the Town of Davidson as the Affordable Housing Coordinator and assisted the town in implementing its inclusionary zoning program. For the past five years, she has also served as staff attorney where she provides assistance in the areas of employment, contracts, and general government law.
“We are thrilled to welcome Cindy Reid into the role of Town Attorney” said Mayor John Woods. “We have worked with Cindy for almost ten years and know we’ll be able to depend upon her to advise the Davidson Board of Commissioners and represent the town well.”
Cindy will spend 15 hours a week on the affordable housing program and 35 hours a week on staff and town attorney work.
Cindy has lived in Davidson with her husband and three children for the past 20 years.
