Spring Break Camps

GoGo Clay - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Kids will learn basic ceramics hand-building techniques, decorating styles, and all things clay. Classes will include stories about artists, and some fresh-air play and snack time. Please allow two weeks’ turnaround time for projects.

Writing in Nature - 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Through games and engaging activities, the staff of the Young Writers Academy will guide campers through the key elements of fiction, poetry, and non-fiction inspired by the animals and plants discovered on their daily hikes. Students will leave with a bound book of their creative work devoted to their outdoor discoveries.

Intro to Family Fishing - March 31

Connect with friends and family while fostering an appreciation for our natural resources. James Adams of Davidson Parks and Recreation will lead an introductory casting lesson, assist anglers with their catch, and will provide brief information about species caught. Fishing gear and bait will be provided while supplies last. State issued North Carolina fishing license required for all anglers 16 and older.

Intro to Indoor Rowing for Youth/Teens - April 6

Over the five-week course students (ages 10-18) are introduced to the indoor rower and taught proper technique. Students will learn the different muscles involved during the rowing workout. Students will learn how to use the monitor and log cards to set up and keep track of their workouts. Students will learn the concept of stroke rate and intensity and how they differ. Students will leave with a good grasp of indoor rowing, how to create and execute a complete workout and understand the joy and benefits of this lifetime sport!

Spanish for All Occasions - April 5

Do you want to travel to a Spanish speaking country? Do you need to learn Spanish because of your school or job? Do you want to learn Spanish just for fun? This course is made for you! This course will cover how to introduce yourself and friends, formal and informal conversation, traveling, eating, shopping, and entertainment. Using language immersion exercises, you will improve your Spanish skills in a short period of time!
