Davidson Police Department Requests that Citizens Avoid Intersection of Main Street/Chairman Blake Lane/South Street
The Davidson Police Department requests that motorists avoid the intersection of Main Street/Chairman Blake Lane/South Street while the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and Davidson Public Works employees work on the traffic signals this afternoon. Currently, the traffic signal is not functional and Davidson Police officers are directing traffic through the light.
Motorists traveling southbound on Main Street can detour the affected intersection by turning right onto Depot Street, left onto Jackson Street, and right onto Main Street. Motorists traveling northbound on Main Street can detour the intersection by turning left onto Jackson Street, right onto Depot Street, and left onto Main Street.
Motorists traveling northbound on South Street can turn left onto Cathey Street, right onto Walnut Street, and right or left onto Main Street. Motorists traveling on Lorimer Road should avoid Chairman Blake Lane and use either Concord Road or Woodland Street.
“We are working to install pedestrian signals at the intersection of Chairman Blake Lane and Main Street and at the crossing of Main Street between Stowe’s Corner and Raeford’s Barber Shop to improve pedestrian safety,” said Public Works and Projects Director Doug Wright. “Since Davidson is such a pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly town this will enhance safety at these heavily used crossings.”
NCDOT hopes to get the signals functioning again soon. We appreciate your patience while we complete this project. Please call Davidson Town Hall at 704-892-7591 with any questions.
