Construction activity and overall community changes have affected quality of life in West Davidson in the following ways:
Property value and taxation increases in the area are making it more difficult to maintain affordable housing.
Job scarcity has forced many to commute to other towns.
Lack of road or pedestrian connectivity across the railroad tracks and between neighborhoods present barriers.
Communications between the town government and the African American community have been weakened by historic racial tensions.
To respond to these issues and research additional concerns, a series of public information sessions were organized in early 2006 where the Town of Davidson announced the formation of a West Davidson Stakeholder Committee.
